This is the main panel for selecting what part of SPAT to access. Source, source localization, perceptual and acoustical parameters. Reverb, reverberation characteristics of the simulated acoustic space. Setup. input, source and output mappings.

Sources, is where source parameters are set and visualized. Input channels are fed to one or several virtual sources in the acoustic space, and a number of parameters for each source as well as the location of the source in the virtual acoustic space, is controlled in this view.

Selected Source, the source currently active for editing. Source On/Off toggles the source on and off in the global output mix, and Solo mutes all other sources for solo listening of the actual source.

The Perceptual Factors controls the way the reverb sound is perceived by the listener, such as Source; Presence, Warmth, Brilliance as well as Room Presence, Running Reverb and Envelopment.

Acoustical Criteria displays the acoustical parameter values associated with the current settings, provided for technically inclined users who are already well familiar with the terms mentioned.

Target Reverb sets the currently selected Reverb engine, Doppler toggles the well known doppler effect on the Source, Air Absorption simulates the freq. dependent absorption of air, Clear Solo, clears Solo on all Sources. Drop Mode, Drop, Radius, Pan_rev and Early Width are all geometrical related controls.

Displays a to-scale representation of the Sources and the speakers spatial localization settings projected onto a two dimensional flat space. A source is represented by a yellow disk, clicking on the disk makes the source active allowing it to be moved and edited.

Distance, Azimuth, Yaw, Relative direction, Elevation, Pitch and Aperture are all angle/axis/directional parameters for the Source, and for how the sound from the Source to the listener position is perceived.

Each source presents a set of two three-band equalizers, Axis, toggles the equalizer associated with the on-axis part of the sound radiated by the virtual source, and Omni, toggles the equalizer associated with the omnidirectional part of the sound radiated by the virtual source.

Reverb, is where the reverberation characteristics of the simulated acoustic space are adjusted.

Selected Reverb, indicates the reverb engine currently being edited. Reverb On, toggles the currently selected reverb engine (on/off). Up to three reverb engines are provided, working in parallel, and any/all of the up to eight sources can be assigned to one of the three engines at a time.

Reverberance, the amount by which the listener perceives the music to be prolonged by the reverb. Heaviness and Liveness is the decay time of low/high-frequency content relative to Reverberance. Freq. Low/High Sets the frequency above which decay time is determined by the Heaviness /Liveliness.

Infinite ("deep-freezing" the reverb). Air Absorption/Roll Freq. simulates the frequency dependent air absorption. Modal Density, the frequency “smoothness” of the Verb engine.

Representation of Direct signal, Early, Cluster and Reverb. Room Size, Reverb Start and Gain controls.

Early shape, the amplitude rise/fall of early reflections. Early Min, the time at which the early reflections start to appear, Early Max, the time at which the early reflections cease to appear, Early Distribution, the way early reflections are scattered in time. Cluster Min/Max, Distribution, same as with Early.

Setup, where input, source and output mappings are determined.

Input Setup, for setting up incoming channels with SPAT Sources, Phase, Level Meter, Stereo Pairing and Source On/Off can be set for each incoming Channel/Source.

Output Arrangement allows you to select the desired output arrangement amongst a choice of stereo and a variety of surround configurations, with or without a sub-woofer.

Output Setup, for speakers, On/Off, Output Delay and setup for sending a speaker to the Subwoofer bus.

Output Routing presents the option to map any Spat speaker output to a "physical" output.

Sets the width of a stereo pair, if previously defined, in degrees.

Subwoofer is the send level values from each of the Spat reverb outputs that has the signal routed to the Subwoofer.

Input/Ouput Gain (-/+ 12 dB) Input/Output VU Meter (-76/0 dB), Dry/Wet mix control for mixing in unprocessed signal with processed signal.

To enhance the workflow, the two Preset/Parameter slots, A and B, can be loaded with two different presets ie. two full set of parameters at the same time. Apart from saving each preset, a "Global Preset" containing both the A and B settings, and the postion of the "Morphing Slider", can be saved.

The Morphing Slider provide morphing between the parameter settings of slot A/B allowing for really creative and useful realtime tweaking. Enabling the Automation control button exposes the Morphing Slider to the host automation.
